Year 1 Teacher – Primary School (Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Year 1 Teacher to join our two‑form entry primary school in Chesham on a permanent basis from September 2026. The role is within a supportive, collaborative environment focused on high‑quality teaching and staff wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Year 1 lessons covering the Key Stage 1 curriculum, including the Phonics Screening Check.
• Assess pupil progress and use data to inform teaching, supporting SEND and disadvantaged learners.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attainment and presentation.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Contribute to school life through enrichment activities and events.

Required profile

• Secure understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, especially early reading, phonics and language development.
• Experience teaching Year 1 or across Key Stage 1.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a two‑form entry structure.

Required skills

• Delivery of phonics programmes (e.g., Little Wandle or similar).
• Effective use of assessment to inform teaching.
