Year 2 Teacher – Primary School (Preston)

About the role

This full‑time, temporary position is for a qualified Year 2 teacher in a warm, community‑focused primary school in Preston. You will take full responsibility for a Year 2 class, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum that supports pupils as they transition through Key Stage 1. The school values pupil wellbeing, inclusive practice and high‑quality teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the core curriculum for Year 2.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing targeted support where needed.
• Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing.
• Collaborate with colleagues on planning, sharing resources and school initiatives.
• Communicate regularly with parents and carers about pupil development.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching in Key Stage 1.
• Creative, high‑expectation approach with a nurturing attitude.
• Strong understanding of phonics and early literacy development.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive staff team.
• Reflective practitioner committed to ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1.
• Proficiency in using classroom technology and assessment tools.
