Year 2 Teaching Assistant (Phonics) – Full‑time

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a strong Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a popular mainstream primary school in Greenwich (SE10). The role is full‑time, term‑time only, and focuses on delivering phonics support and assisting pupils with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering the Year 2 curriculum, with a particular emphasis on phonics.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils, including those with ASD and EBD.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment and uphold safeguarding policies.
• Assist with lesson preparation, marking, and classroom organisation.
• Communicate progress and concerns to the teaching team and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in Key Stage 1 or 2 within the UK.
• Demonstrated phonics experience.
• Current safeguarding training (issued within the last year).
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD and EBD.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
