Year 3 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support for Autistic Pupil

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Year 3 Teaching Assistant to provide specialist SEN support for an autistic pupil in a primary school in Crewe. The role is term‑time only, full‑time (9:00‑15:15) and focuses on one‑to‑one assistance as well as small‑group phonics work.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised 1:1 support to the Year 3 autistic pupil, adapting lessons and classroom tasks.
- Implement coping strategies to help the pupil manage stress and sensory challenges.
- Modify and simplify academic content to ensure accessibility and enjoyment.
- Lead small‑group phonics and targeted intervention sessions.
- Collaborate with the Year 5 teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
Required profile
- Experience supporting SEN pupils, preferably autistic children, in a primary setting.
- Patience, empathy and strong communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to fostering children’s learning and wellbeing.
