Year 4 Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Education Network is seeking a dedicated Year 4 Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Sunderland. This full‑time, temporary position runs from September 2026 for the academic year, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering the Year 4 curriculum.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils as needed.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.
• Monitor pupil progress and report observations to the teacher.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching assistant or childcare qualification, or demonstrable experience working with Year 4 pupils.
• Two satisfactory references covering the last two years.
• Commitment to the success of pupils and the school.
• Good understanding of the national curriculum for Year 4.
• Positive, can‑do attitude.
