Year 5 Class Teacher – Maternity Cover (Full‑Time)

About the role

This full‑time maternity cover position is for a Year 5 Class Teacher at a welcoming primary school near South Croydon. The role starts in September 2026 and runs on a fixed‑term basis, providing continuity for pupils while the regular teacher is on maternity leave.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Lower Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Maintain excellent classroom management and a positive learning environment.
• Use the fortnightly full‑day PPA time for planning, assessment and professional development.
• Support pupils with special educational needs through the school’s SEN provision.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress to ensure every child reaches their potential.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of the Lower Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Passion for creating creative and engaging lessons.
• Commitment to high standards of classroom management and pupil achievement.
