About the role

Hays Education is partnering with several primary schools in Canterbury to recruit enthusiastic Year 5 teachers. This role supports pupils in Upper Key Stage 2, helping them build confidence, resilience and the academic foundation needed for their final year of primary education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑wide lessons for Year 5 classes.
• Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages high expectations.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing targeted feedback.
• Manage behaviour effectively to maintain a focused learning atmosphere.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and leadership teams to enhance student outcomes.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
• Experience teaching in primary education, preferably Key Stage 2.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Commitment to high academic standards for all learners.
• Professional attitude and passion for education.
