Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Morning Part‑Time (Southwark)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Southwark from September. This is a morning‑only position (8:30 am–1:00 pm) supporting a small group of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Year 5 classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering targeted interventions for SEN pupils.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to enhance engagement and learning.
• Help prepare and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and report observations to the teacher.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
• Patient, proactive attitude and ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Reliability for a fixed morning schedule.

Required skills

• Experience with SEN support strategies.
• Basic classroom management techniques.
