Year 5 Teaching Assistant (SEN Support)

About the role

Reed Education is partnering with a friendly, inclusive primary school in Crewe to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. The role provides one‑to‑one support for a Year 5 pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a temporary basis, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individualized support to ensure the pupil is fully engaged in classroom activities.
• Implement strategies that promote academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s specific SEN requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to follow the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with SEN, ideally on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Strong understanding of strategies for autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, etc.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain patient, calm, and proactive in challenging situations.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
