Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Part‑Time (AM)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class in a large primary school in Trafford. The role is part‑time, AM‑only (8:30 am‑1:15 pm) and initially covers the Autumn term, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils' final year of primary education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to raise attainment in English and Mathematics.
• Deliver targeted intervention programmes for pupils below age‑related expectations.
• Prepare learning resources and classroom activities.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Support pupils with varying learning needs to ensure curriculum access.
• Contribute to pupil wellbeing, behaviour and engagement.
• Assist with SATs preparation and revision activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a Year 6 classroom.
• Experience delivering 1:1 and small‑group interventions in English and Mathematics.
• Good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and SATs preparation.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proactive, flexible and supportive approach.
• Relevant TA qualification (Level 2, Level 3 or equivalent).
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of KS2 English and Mathematics curriculum.
• Familiarity with SATs assessment requirements.
