Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Preston)

About the role

Our client, a welcoming primary school in Preston, is seeking an enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils as they prepare for the transition to secondary school, focusing on English and Mathematics.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Assist pupils with SATs preparation and consolidation of key skills.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Support pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents where appropriate.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Confidence supporting Year 6 pupils across core subjects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, nurturing, and committed to helping children succeed.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
