Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Southwark (Full‑Time Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Southwark. This fixed‑term, full‑time position runs from September 2026 to December 2027 and focuses on helping pupils transition smoothly to secondary education.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Year 6 teacher in delivering daily lessons.
• Provide targeted small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions in literacy and numeracy.
• Assist pupils with preparation for end‑of‑Key Stage 2 assessments.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.
• Promote pupil confidence, independence and engagement.
• Contribute positively to the wider school community.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑aged children, preferably Upper Key Stage 2.
• Passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Ability to work with individuals, small groups and whole classes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised, proactive and a team player.
• High expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
