Young People Support Worker

About the role

An established charity is seeking compassionate Young People Support Workers to help vulnerable youth develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living. Working in supported accommodation in Salisbury, you will provide both practical and emotional support to a diverse group of young people.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, person‑centred relationships and act as a Key Worker for each young person.
• Complete assessments, support plans, risk assessments and regular reviews.
• Teach essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, tenancy responsibilities and personal wellbeing.
• Provide advice, advocacy and emotional support regarding housing, education, employment, health and welfare.
• Encourage participation in social, leisure and community activities.
• Collaborate with local authorities, education providers, healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and update electronic support systems.
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety, equality and professional boundaries.
• Participate in a flexible rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and a weekly sleep‑in shift.

Required profile

• Experience supporting vulnerable young people in housing, social care or youth work.
• Understanding of safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice and person‑centred support.
• Ability to build relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication, organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to obtain or work towards an A‑Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Youth Work or a related field.

Required skills

• Basic IT skills for maintaining case notes and electronic records.
