Youth Development Worker & Chaplaincy Lead

About the role

The Youth Development Worker & Chaplaincy Lead will join St Mary’s 0‑18 team, providing leadership for secondary‑school aged young people and overseeing chaplaincy at Woodchurch Church of England High School. This position is pivotal during a period of growth, helping to realise the vision of making disciples of Jesus among children, young people and families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop programmes for secondary‑school aged youth.
• Oversee and coordinate chaplaincy activities at Woodchurch High School.
• Design and deliver community‑facing youth initiatives aligned with the 0‑18 vision.
• Ensure safeguarding practices are embedded in all activities.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers and church partners to foster a supportive environment.
• Maintain compliance with the Church of England’s Safer Recruitment procedures.

Required profile

• Committed Christian with a genuine vocation for ministry.
• Experience working with children, young people and families.
• Understanding of chaplaincy or faith‑based youth work.
• Ability to lead, inspire and organise teams.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and Safer Recruitment policies.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

• Salary £28,000‑£29,000 per year (pro‑rated for part‑time).
