Youth Development Worker – Temporary (Penzance)

About the role
This temporary position supports a supported accommodation service for young people aged 16‑25 in Penzance. You will help vulnerable youth overcome homelessness, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for independent living.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one support and key‑worker sessions.
- Create and review personalised support and action plans.
- Complete risk assessments and manage safeguarding concerns.
- Support tenancy sustainment and housing‑related needs.
- Assist with benefits applications and financial management.
- Help young people access education, training and employment opportunities.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to secure appropriate support.
- Prepare young people for successful move‑on into independent accommodation.
Required profile
- Experience supporting or engaging with young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and support planning.
- Understanding of mental health, wellbeing and challenges facing vulnerable youth.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Proactive, resilient and person‑centred approach.
