About the role
The Youth Justice Case Manager will join Sefton’s Youth Justice Service, working closely with partner agencies to support children and young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system. The role focuses on safeguarding, risk management and delivering tailored interventions that promote safety, wellbeing and positive futures.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with local partners to prevent children from entering the criminal justice system.
- Provide case management and support for children who are already involved, helping them make positive changes.
- Assess the needs of children and families, develop intervention plans and monitor progress.
- Safeguard children and young people, managing risk and vulnerability while protecting the public.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and uphold the reputation of the Department and Council.
- Engage with hard‑to‑reach children and families, building trust and encouraging participation.
- Potentially supervise student placements within the service.
Required profile
- Recognised professional qualification such as a Social Work Diploma in Probation Studies or a Dip HE Youth & Community.
- Relevant youth or criminal‑justice degree with associated experience.
- Significant post‑qualification experience assessing children’s needs and devising intervention packages.
- Strong knowledge of youth‑justice legislation, safeguarding practice and risk assessment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies and engage hard‑to‑reach families.
