Youth Mentor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic, reliable mentors to provide one‑to‑one support for young people in the Bournemouth area who are in alternative provision. You will work 2‑10 hours per week, either in the young person’s home or within the local community, helping them build confidence and re‑integrate into mainstream or specialist education settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 mentoring sessions tailored to each young person’s needs.
• Provide emotional support and encourage participation in hobbies, walks, or outdoor activities.
• Facilitate play‑therapy and art‑therapy sessions where required.
• Help young people develop confidence, self‑esteem, and positive future outlooks.
• Maintain clear records of sessions and progress.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience working with young people (e.g., teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, counsellor, sports coach, support worker).
• Enhanced Child and Adult DBS check on the update service (support available to obtain one).
• Energetic, motivated and reliable with a genuine interest in youth development.
