Youth Mentor – Support Young People in Warrington

About the role

We are seeking a Youth Mentor to work with young people in Warrington and surrounding areas who are persistently absent or excluded from school. The role is student‑centred and flexible, offering £25‑£30 per hour to support learners with SEND, SEMH challenges or other barriers, helping them re‑engage with education or vocational pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Build trust by meeting young people in their environment, often at their doorstep.
• Deliver one‑to‑one sessions focused on confidence, emotional regulation and self‑esteem.
• Facilitate low‑pressure, interest‑based learning activities and accompany students to interviews or placements.
• Teach practical life skills such as budgeting and navigating public transport.
• Represent the young person in multi‑agency meetings with Social Care and CAMHS.
• Support parents in creating a home environment that encourages attendance and growth.

Required profile

• Resilient and compassionate with a genuine desire to change a young person’s trajectory.
• Experience or understanding of working with young people facing SEND, SEMH or complex barriers.
• Ability to work independently and build relationships in a trauma‑informed manner.
• Strong communication skills for multi‑agency collaboration and parental support.
