Youth Support Worker – SEND Assistant in Primary School

About the role
We are seeking a Youth Support Worker to join a large primary school in Wythenshawe, South Manchester. You will act as a SEND Teaching Assistant, providing one‑to‑one support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other complex requirements across Key Stage 2.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted 1:1 interventions to help pupils engage with core subjects.
- Support identified pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the school’s senior leadership team to implement tailored support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions.
Required profile
- Experience in youth work, sports coaching, or a degree in Psychology, Criminology or Youth Studies.
- Confidence and resilience when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
- Passion for helping vulnerable young people reach their potential.
- Willingness to undergo safer recruitment checks, including Enhanced DBS.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£110, dependent on experience.
- Full‑time, term‑time position (08:20‑15:30, Monday‑Friday).
