1-1 Primary Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Liverpool. The role focuses on providing one‑to‑one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for SEN pupils.
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment throughout the day.
• Provide assistance during break and lunchtimes.
• Plan, prepare and lead activities that promote holistic development – physical, intellectual, emotional and social.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, teachers, other assistants and lunchtime supervisors.
• Work closely with the class teacher and support team to ensure consistent support.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience supporting SEN pupils, including those with physical, communication or social needs.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
• Enhanced DBS check (and overseas police clearance if applicable).
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Calm, patient, proactive attitude with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• ICT (basic information and communication technology) proficiency.
