1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Team Teach) – Year 8 SEMH

About the role
We are seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant trained in Team Teach to work with a Year 8 male student who has social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role is based in a supportive secondary school in Barking & Dagenham and runs full‑time during term dates.
Key responsibilities
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the assigned student.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and apply Team Teach techniques as required.
- Assist the student in regulating emotions and engaging with classroom activities.
- Collaborate with the SENCO, pastoral staff and teaching team to monitor progress.
- Promote independence and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Team Teach trained (essential).
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and boundary‑setting abilities.
Required skills

- Daily rate of £95‑£110, dependent on experience.
- Full‑time, term‑time only contract.
