1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant (Supply) – Exeter

About the role

Randstad Education is seeking experienced 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistants to provide dedicated support to pupils in Exeter primary schools on a supply basis. This role offers a structured 08:30‑15:30 schedule, term‑time only, with no weekend commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one academic support in literacy, numeracy and classroom activities.
• Implement and follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) alongside class teachers.
• Manage sensory breaks and promote positive social interaction during break times.
• Support children with SEN needs such as autism, ADHD and SEMH, as well as behavioural challenges.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children in a primary school, care or youth‑work setting.
• Understanding of special educational needs (ASD, ADHD, speech & language delays) is advantageous.
• Exceptional patience, strong communication and adaptability.
• Willingness to hold a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or undergo a new check.

Required skills

• Experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Care Worker.
• Knowledge of SEN strategies and EHCP implementation.
