About the role
Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a primary school student with specific learning difficulties in Southwark, South East London. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the pupil’s educational experience is tailored, engaging, and successful.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one support to a student with additional needs, adapting materials and teaching strategies as required.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring the individual education plan (IEP).
- Offer emotional encouragement and help the pupil feel safe during lessons, lunch, and break times.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and deliver inclusive lessons.
- Observe, record, and report progress or concerns to relevant staff.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a similar SEN support role, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with children, patience and empathy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for liaising with staff and parents.
- Organisational ability to prioritise tasks and adapt quickly to changing needs.
