1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support for a pupil with additional needs in a welcoming school in Preston. This term‑time, full‑time position starts in September and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on a child's academic, social and emotional development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist with learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
• Adapt resources and teaching strategies to meet the pupil’s individual requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback on the pupil’s development.

Required profile

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
• Patience, empathy, resilience and strong communication skills.
• Proactive attitude and ability to use initiative.
• Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs is advantageous.
