About the role
This temporary full‑time position supports a single secondary‑aged pupil with special educational needs in a dedicated SEN school in Tameside. You will work one‑to‑one throughout the school day, helping the student thrive academically and personally.
Key responsibilities
- Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the allocated pupil.
- Assist the student in accessing lessons and encourage independent learning.
- Implement strategies for emotional regulation, behaviour management and social interaction.
- Adapt activities and communication to suit the pupil’s individual needs.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and parents.
- Celebrate progress and help boost confidence and self‑esteem.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people who have SEN, autism, ADHD, SEMH or related behavioural needs.
- Calm, empathetic and patient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Resilience and positivity in challenging situations.
- Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
