About the role
We are seeking passionate 1:1 SEND/SEMH Tutors to provide specialist tuition and mentoring for pupils who cannot access mainstream education. Working in partnership with a local Pupil Referral Unit, you will deliver face‑to‑face support in the pupil’s home or community settings across Berkshire.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualised 1:1 tuition sessions for primary and secondary pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches to match each pupil’s learning style, abilities and emotional requirements.
- Support academic progress while also promoting emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and the referring PRU.
- Monitor progress, produce session feedback and reports as required.
Required profile
- Compassionate and dedicated with experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH.
- Ability to work flexibly across various locations (home, libraries, learning hubs).
- Strong communication skills for liaising with pupils, families and educational partners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child‑centred practice.
