1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Primary Prep School

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with ADHD and ASD in a primary prep school in SW12. The role starts in September and focuses on re‑engaging the child with learning and building confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent one‑to‑one support throughout the school day.
• Adapt tasks and teaching approaches to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
• Support the pupil’s focus, engagement and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement support strategies.
• Help the pupil gradually increase participation and time spent in school.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEN, especially ADHD and ASD.
• Calm, patient and proactive attitude.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
• Flexible, resilient and positive outlook.
• Background in education, psychology or a related field (desirable).
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Required skills

What we offer

• Hourly rate between £15 and £26.
• Potential to increase working hours as the pupil’s timetable expands.
