1:1 Teaching Assistant

About the role

Join a vibrant primary school in Croydon as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. You will support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons and provide targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to help pupils progress academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
• Prepare classroom resources, learning materials and set up activities.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions for academic and social development.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs.
• Supervise students during lessons, playtime, group work and transitions.
• Assist with assessments, observations and maintain accurate records.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational setting (desirable).
• Strong understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organisational ability and initiative.
• First Aid certification (preferred) and additional training in SEN, safeguarding or behaviour support (preferred).
