1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 4 ASD Support (Hackney)

About the role

The school is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 4 pupil diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). You will provide personalised support throughout the school day, helping the child access the curriculum and develop social confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one assistance to the pupil during all classroom activities and break times.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt individual support plans.
• Facilitate the pupil’s participation in lessons, ensuring access to learning resources.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as required.
• Promote positive behaviour and social interaction with peers.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs in a primary school setting.
• Strong commitment, patience and proactive attitude.
• Ability to commute to Hackney and work full‑time on a long‑term basis.
• Good communication skills for working with teachers, SENCO and families.
