1:1 Tutor for Secondary Student in Minehead

About the role

Quantum Scholars is seeking a supportive and experienced SEN Tutor to deliver one‑to‑one tuition for a secondary‑aged child at their home in Minehead, Somerset. This part‑time, contract position involves 11 hours of in‑person teaching each week, focusing on core subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one tuition in English, maths and science.
• Plan engaging, accessible lessons tailored to a secondary learner.
• Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet the child’s SEN needs.
• Support academic progress, confidence and engagement.
• Build a positive, consistent relationship with the child.
• Monitor progress and provide clear feedback.
• Work professionally with parents, carers and relevant professionals.

Required profile

• Experience teaching or tutoring secondary‑aged children.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Strong knowledge of core secondary subjects.
• Ability to plan and deliver personalised one‑to‑one learning.
• Patient, reliable and supportive approach.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Minehead.
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Satisfactory professional references and right to work in the UK.
