111 Health Advisor (Call Handler) – Gillingham

About the role

The 111 Health Advisor (Call Handler) is the first point of contact for patients calling the NHS 111 service in Gillingham. You will assess a wide range of health concerns, provide urgent advice, and arrange ambulance dispatch when necessary. The role operates 24/7, offering a dynamic and rewarding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming 111 calls and use the NHS Pathways system to triage callers.
• Provide clinical advice, reassurance, and signpost to appropriate services.
• Coordinate ambulance dispatch for life‑threatening situations.
• Document interactions accurately and maintain confidentiality.
• Work a rotating shift pattern, including early, late, and weekend shifts.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to remain calm and empathetic under pressure.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including 3 out of 4 weekends.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the NHS Pathways clinical decision‑support system.
