5 Axis CNC Machinist – Large‑format Components

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced 5‑axis CNC Machinist for a well‑established precision engineering business in Atherton. The role involves operating large‑format machining centres to produce complex, high‑precision components for demanding industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Set, operate and edit programmes on large‑format 5‑axis CNC machining centres.
• Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Machine a variety of materials to tight tolerances.
• Select and set tooling to optimise performance and cycle times.
• Conduct in‑process inspection using standard measuring equipment.
• Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to meet delivery targets.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience setting and operating 5‑axis CNC machining centres.
• Experience machining large‑format or heavy engineering components.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining strategies.
• Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
