5‑Axis CNC Machinist – Heavy Engineering

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced 5‑axis CNC Machinist to join a well‑established precision engineering business in Atherton. The role involves operating large‑format CNC machines to produce complex, high‑value components for demanding industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and edit programmes on large‑format 5‑axis CNC machining centres.
• Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Select and install tooling to optimise cycle times and achieve required tolerances.
• Conduct in‑process inspection using standard measuring equipment.
• Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to meet delivery targets.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience with 5‑axis CNC machining centres.
• Background in large‑format or heavy engineering component production.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining strategies.
• Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
