Academic Mentor – Pathways Provision (Maternity Cover)

About the role

The Academic Mentor will work within the Pathways provision at Plumstead Manor School, supporting vulnerable learners at Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a full‑time, term‑time contract covering maternity leave, with the possibility of a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Promote high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.
• Deliver a tailored curriculum that meets the needs of vulnerable students.
• Implement graduated “early help” interventions addressing social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation of student progress and interventions.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, external agencies and professionals to share best practice.

Required profile

• Experience working with students who have specific learning or special educational needs, or behavioural challenges.
• Ability to liaise effectively with a range of staff and external partners.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to confidentiality.
