Academic Tutor – Flexible Part‑Time (Gateshead)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Academic Tutors to deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group sessions in Maths, English and Science for students from Year 1 through post‑16. The role is flexible, allowing you to work across schools, homes and community settings in Gateshead and the wider North East region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons in core subjects following the UK National Curriculum.
• Design and implement personalised lesson plans that match each learner’s style and needs.
• Adapt teaching approaches for students with Special Educational Needs to ensure inclusive learning.
• Foster a supportive environment that builds confidence, self‑esteem and social skills.
• Maintain regular communication with families to report progress and celebrate achievements.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering effective tuition in Maths, English or Science.
• Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
• Experience working with learners who have diverse SEN requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young learners.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one immediately.
