Academic Tutor – Science, Innovation & Technology

About the role

Oxbridge Summer Scholars is seeking specialist academic tutors to join the Science, Innovation & Technology stream of its two‑week residential summer programme. Tutors will work with high‑achieving international students aged 14‑19, delivering university‑level lectures, seminars and Oxbridge‑style tutorials, and guiding individual research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures and seminars on your subject area.
• Run one‑to‑one or small‑group Oxbridge‑style tutorials, encouraging independent thinking.
• Supervise and mentor students throughout their individual research projects, from topic selection to final presentation.
• Prepare teaching materials and reading lists tailored to an interdisciplinary curriculum.
• Collaborate with the academic team to ensure a coherent programme.
• Provide specific, constructive feedback and be available to answer academic queries during the programme.

Required profile

• Subject‑matter expert in one of the STEM disciplines featured in the stream (e.g., physics, mathematics, computer science, astrophysics, earth sciences, materials science, data science, engineering).
• Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring at university or advanced secondary level.
• Ability to conduct Oxbridge‑style tutorials and support independent research.
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for inspiring high‑achieving students.
