Academy Player Care Officer

About the role

The Academy Player Care Officer supports the Player Development Team in delivering a comprehensive Life Skills and Wellbeing programme for all academy players. The role aims to help young footballers develop self‑sufficiency, broader identities, and emotional resilience while navigating the demands of professional sport.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Life Skills and Wellbeing sessions and provide guidance to players and parents.
• Assist the Head of Academy Player Care with safeguarding, personal development plans, and player inductions.
• Collaborate with the Multi‑Disciplinary Team to support mental and emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate player‑care records and contribute to planning of tours, trips and tournaments.
• Support Player Voice and Parent Voice forums and ensure follow‑up actions.
• Assist with the Host Families provision, including home visits, assessments and recruitment.
• Provide ongoing support to players leaving the club and maintain post‑departure contact.
• Ensure match‑day visibility of the Player Care department and keep progress records up to date.

Required profile

• Experience working in an elite sporting environment and within a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification (desirable).
• Proven experience supporting young people and their families.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathetic, approachable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proactive, solution‑focused mindset with a commitment to long‑term player development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
