Accommodation & Homelessness Support Worker

About the role

The Accommodation & Homelessness Support Worker plays a vital part in delivering high‑quality temporary accommodation and personalised support to individuals experiencing homelessness. Working within the Homelessness Service, you will help residents secure stable housing and access essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct prompt assessments of customers referred for accommodation, ensuring safety and support.
• Provide advice, advocacy and assistance with benefits, education, employment and resettlement options.
• Develop holistic support plans for customers with complex needs, including those displaying antisocial behaviour.
• Manage the upkeep of temporary accommodation, overseeing repairs, health and safety compliance and rent collection.
• Deliver building management services such as preparing flats for let, organising maintenance and supervising building services staff.
• Maintain accurate records in line with City Council systems and financial regulations.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with corporate policies.

Required profile

• Experience in housing support or a related field.
• Strong communication skills for building relationships with customers and partner agencies.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload in a dynamic environment.
• Competent ICT skills with experience using multiple applications and systems.
• Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, especially under pressure.
• Willingness to undergo and pass an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
