Account Manager - Facilities Management

About the role

The Account Manager leads the strategic and operational delivery of Hard FM services across the UCL contracts, focusing on building maintenance, compliance and lifecycle services so that facilities run efficiently, safely and in line with educational standards and contractual obligations. The role is based in London and is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all Hard FM services, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building fabric maintenance
• Lead a team of technical and operational professionals, supporting their performance and development
• Ensure compliance with statutory and contractual obligations such as SFG20, HTM and DfE guidelines
• Develop, monitor and report on KPIs and SLAs
• Manage financial performance through budget control, forecasting and cost-saving initiatives
• Act as main point of contact for clients on escalations and strategic discussions
• Drive continuous improvement focused on safety, sustainability and service quality
• Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and reactive works delivery
• Lead mobilisation and transition of new contracts where applicable

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in Facilities Management, Engineering or a related field
• Proven leadership experience in FM, preferably in the education sector
• Technical qualifications in engineering or building services (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4+ or equivalent)
• IOSH / NEBOSH certification preferred
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. BIFM, CIBSE)

Required skills

• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, compliance standards and asset lifecycle management
• Financial acumen and contract management skills
• Familiarity with CAFM systems and industry best practice
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage stakeholders
