Accountant – Business Partnering Team (Children’s & Education Services)

About the role

Join the Financial Management Team at Coventry City Council as an Accountant supporting Children’s & Education Services. You will act as a trusted business partner, helping service leads plan, monitor and optimise the use of public funds.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial advice and analysis to service managers, translating data into clear insights.
• Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts and final accounts in line with professional standards.
• Identify and propose creative solutions to financial challenges.
• Ensure compliance with council financial policies and public sector regulations.
• Collaborate with other finance professionals to deliver accurate and timely reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified (CCAB/CIMA) or actively studying towards qualification.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Strong curiosity, analytical mindset and ability to build relationships.
• Proactive, adaptable and comfortable communicating financial information to non‑financial audiences.
