Accountant – Financial Reporting & FP&A (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an Accountant to join the National Laboratories & Science (NLS) business unit of LGC Assure & NLS. The role is hybrid, requiring regular presence in our London, Guildford and Twickenham offices and will support financial reporting, planning and cost‑management activities.

Key responsibilities

• Own weekly and monthly business performance reporting, delivering accurate commentary and variance analysis.
• Manage overhead cost‑centre accounting, including journal posting, P&L review and balance‑sheet reconciliation.
• Coordinate the monthly balance‑sheet review process.
• Lead monthly cost modelling for GMG, providing analytics, risk identification and opportunity assessment.
• Collaborate with cost owners to improve forecasts and drive efficiency.
• Provide financial modelling support for projects such as transitions, exits, change control and new business initiatives.
• Promote standardised models, rate cards and activity‑based costing/pricing.
• Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities.
• Prepare ad‑hoc journals, reviews and business support as required.
• Contribute to priority NLS and Group Finance initiatives.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Experience in financial reporting, FP&A or business partnering (desirable).
• Strong financial modelling and commercial acumen.
• Confidence with MS Excel for reporting, analytics and pivot tables.
• Experience in project accounting, cost accounting or scientific/manufacturing environments (advantageous).
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills.
