Accountant – Full or Part‑Time

About the role

Catalyst, a well‑established accountancy practice in North East England, is looking for an experienced Accountant to join its team on a full‑time or part‑time basis. You will work directly with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing high‑quality financial and tax services while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients.
• Prepare and finalise financial statements and Corporation Tax returns for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Review VAT returns prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide constructive feedback on financial statements produced by junior team members.
• Uphold high standards of client service across the practice.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Accountant or Accounts Senior in a UK accountancy practice.
• ACCA/ACA qualification or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of UK accounting and tax regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proactive, client‑first attitude and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IRIS accounting software.
• Proficiency with Xero.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks.
• Proficiency with Sage.
