Accountant – Hybrid, £50k, Fixed‑term in Edinburgh

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to join a well‑established financial services business in Edinburgh on a fixed‑term, hybrid basis. You will own a broad range of financial accounting tasks, work closely with senior finance leaders and benefit from a thorough hand‑over period.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and month‑end reporting.
• Produce journals, accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Account for management fee income and expenditure.
• Prepare VAT returns and address VAT‑related queries.
• Support statutory accounts and tax reporting for overseas entities.
• Assist with the annual external audit and maintain strong financial controls.
• Support SOX compliance and wider finance projects.
• Produce reports for senior finance leadership and respond to finance queries across the business.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent); part‑qualified candidates may be considered.
• Strong financial accounting background with experience managing month‑end processes.
• Confident communicator able to build relationships across the business.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of work.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• VAT preparation and compliance experience.
