Accountant – Outsourcing (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced accountant to join a modern, growing accountancy practice in Brighton. The role offers exposure to a diverse client base and the chance to develop full‑cycle finance skills while working closely with the Director.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Develop and present management reporting packs and KPI dashboards for clients.
• Maintain purchase and sales ledgers, process invoices, credit notes and payments.
• Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, debtor, creditor, control accounts).
• Assist with VAT returns and other statutory compliance reporting.
• Support year‑end accounting, liaise with external accountants and auditors.
• Onboard new clients, set up accounting systems and implement processes.
• Respond to client queries and provide ad‑hoc financial analysis.
• Utilise cloud‑based accounting software and identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvement.

Required profile

• 3‑4+ years of experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong numerical ability, self‑motivation and client‑focused mindset.
• Residency within a one‑hour commute to Brighton.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Desire to progress professionally and obtain further qualifications (AAT, CIMA, ACCA).

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud accounting systems.
• Ability to create and maintain KPI dashboards.
• Financial analysis and reporting.
