Accountant – Statutory Accounts & Bookkeeping

About the role

This permanent position offers the chance to join a friendly, established accountancy practice in a close‑knit team. You will work across a varied client portfolio, balancing statutory accounts preparation with day‑to‑day bookkeeping support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a portfolio of UK clients.
• Complete bookkeeping tasks and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Produce working papers, supporting schedules and reconciliations.
• Work extensively with Xero and respond to client queries.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve accounting issues.
• Maintain documentation, meet deadlines and support the Accounts Manager with workflow.
• Assist with general practice duties as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Proven ability to prepare statutory accounts.
• Strong bookkeeping background.
• Good working knowledge of Xero.
• Strong Excel skills, especially with reconciliations and schedules.
• Relevant qualification (AAT, PQ or QBE).
• Positive, collaborative attitude and full right to work in the UK.
