Accounting Manager

About the role

An established specialist insurer is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join its London finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own underwriting results reporting, month‑end accounting and financial controls while leading a small, high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead production of monthly, quarterly and annual underwriting results reporting, covering premiums, claims, reserves and acquisition costs.
• Manage and improve the end‑to‑end month‑end accounting process.
• Oversee balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls and compliance.
• Coach and develop a small team of finance professionals.
• Collaborate with FP&A, actuarial, reinsurance, regulatory reporting and external audit teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Significant insurance accounting experience, preferably within Lloyd’s or the company market.
• Previous experience leading or managing a finance team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with Alteryx.
• SQL knowledge.
• Familiarity with finance systems.
