Accounting Technician

About the role

We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join our finance team and support multiple sectors of the Veolia business. This hybrid role combines office work in Sheffield with remote tasks, offering a dynamic environment where you will contribute to month‑end processes and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial activities.
• Prepare and post journals, including accruals, pre‑payments and adjustments in line with accounting standards.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Provide invoicing support, processing, reviewing and resolving invoice queries.
• Process intercompany postings and ensure proper elimination and reconciliation.
• Maintain and roll‑forward month‑end files for continuity and accuracy.
• Liaise with site administration teams to resolve purchase‑order discrepancies.
• Conduct transaction matching and allocations.
• Perform financial analysis to support business decisions and identify variances.
• Respond to ad‑hoc stakeholder requests with timely financial information.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar accounting role (preferred).
• Confident communicator able to build strong relationships.
• Self‑starter with strong time‑management and organisational skills.
• Professional demeanor with high attention to detail.
• Strong logical and analytical abilities.
