Accounts and Tax Business Services Director

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts and Tax Business Services Director to join a growing chartered accountancy firm in Exeter. This senior position will lead a diverse portfolio of limited company, OMB and SME clients, delivering compliance, advisory, and tax services while contributing to the firm’s strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied client portfolio up to the audit threshold, overseeing accounts, tax and related service delivery.
• Lead advisory projects across accounting and tax, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
• Drive business development initiatives and expand the client base.
• Recruit, develop and mentor a team of professionals to support service growth.
• Collaborate with the wider leadership team on firm strategy and office leadership.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA (or combination).
• Extensive experience within UK accountancy practice, from small firms to top‑tier organisations.
• Proven track record at Director/Partner level with strong tax advisory expertise.
• Ability to influence firm development and lead a high‑performing team.
