Accounts Assistant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Role in London

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and versatile Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Based at our Moorgate head office, you will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm, supporting core accounting processes and month‑end close activities.

Key responsibilities

• Post journals accurately according to the monthly timetable, ensuring correct coding and supporting documentation.
• Analyse operating expenses, investigate variances and allocate costs appropriately.
• Prepare and apply accruals and prepayments in line with accounting policy.
• Assist with month‑end close, including balance‑sheet reconciliations, P&L reviews and supporting schedules.
• Support year‑end processes, audit preparation, evidence collation and query resolution.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records and provide clear evidence for balances and movements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve queries and improve data quality.

Required profile

• AAT Level 4 (minimum) is essential.
• Strong understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles.
• Experience with accruals, prepayments and expense analysis.
• Familiarity with FRS 102 accounting standards.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet month‑end deadlines.
• Team player who can also work autonomously.
