Accounts Assistant – Construction Finance

About the role

This position is for an experienced Bookkeeper supporting a specialist construction business in Rossendale. Working closely with the directors, you will ensure the finance function runs smoothly while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day financial operations, including purchase and sales ledgers.
• Process supplier and subcontractor payments, credit control and debt recovery.
• Administer CIS, ensure VAT compliance and prepare quarterly VAT returns.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor daily cash flow.
• Produce monthly management information and accurate project costings.
• Support month‑end and year‑end accounting processes.

Required profile

• Previous bookkeeping or finance experience within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of CIS administration and construction‑specific VAT requirements.
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and liaise with directors, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
